Many type 2 diabetics developed their disease in part through their lifestyle so in effect it can be to a degree a self-inflicted disease. This is not entirely so because artificial foods such as trans fat and high fructose corn syrup are actually the root causes of the disease but over-eating, lack of exercise, and poor diet choices certainly do exacerbate the disease.
The good news for type 2 diabetes is that the alternative health community is beginning to prove that type 2 diabetes can be reversed through diet and other natural ways. Probably the first step that should be taken is to completely eliminate trans fat and high fructose corn syrup from the diet. The second thing that should be done is to concentrate on eliminating processed foods as much as possible as they often contain GMO foods and other ingredients that contribute to or exacerbate the disease.
Type 2 diabetics should also try to reduce stress in their lives as much as possible even if it takes radical steps like changing your career or reducing contact with people who cause turmoil in your life. Getting enough sleep can also greatly reduce the stress hormone cortisol which contributes to type 2 diabetes. In fact, cortisol is probably one of the most misunderstood culprits when it comes to type 2 diabetes and many other diseases such as heart disease and cancer. And finally, exercise is also a key ingredient to reversing type 2 diabetes even if you have to start slow and build up to a more rigorous program.
